I've been an avid reader of RadCom since I joined the RSGB a couple of years ago and look forward to receiving the latest issue in the post each month.  However, I travel daily on the ferry between the Isle of Wight and the mainland, or 'North Island' as we like to call it, giving me an hour in the morning and an hour in the evening with which to relax and read.

Carrying lots of magazines with me isn't ideal so I decided that I'd like to have some magazines on my Samsung Galaxy Note 10 tablet, as this would be far more convenient to take with me and I'd be able to have a large collection with which to chose something of interest to read.

RadCom 2012 CD

RadCom archive CD's are available from the RSGB, either in single year versions from 1997 through to 2012, so I decided to start my collection with the 2012 version, with the view of buying more if I was happy with my purchase.

Once delivered, I loaded up the CD by placing it into my DVD drive on my desktop computer.  Luckily, I was already running the latest version of Adobe Acrobat Reader, so I didn't need to install it in order to view the archive, however, a version is included for those without the reader software, although this won't be the latest version.

Each issue is contained as a single file, giving twelve files with each one being around 25 to 30 Mb, the total file size for all the 12 issues is around 300 Mb.  Once loaded onto the computer I also loaded a copy of each issue to my tablet, allowing me to read them at my leisure to and from work.

All twelve issues are high quality versions of the magazine, and they are fully searchable should you be looking for something in particular, this will be of great help.  Each magazine is easy to read on both the desktop computer and my tablet, and I'm very happy with my purchase.

I'd highly recommend the archive CD's to anyone who is looking to either replace paper copies of the magazine, to get back issues of magazines missed of for those who would like to take lots of magazines with them on their travels.

Each yearly archive CD costs £14.99 for non members or £12.74 for members and can be purchased from here.
